Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Neither. It was a Hurricane.
Three Angels recently shipped all of our trees growing at The Farm to the south of the island, where Hurricane Matthew destroyed almost every fruit-bearing tree. With this new space available, a team of men from Texas and Illinois promptly helped us get our Chicken Coop set up!
Last week the chickens arrived. Over 200 of these beauties were delivered and produced 55 eggs the first day! Our feathered friends will be providing low-cost nutrition to the children and families at Three Angels. Even their waste will be put to good use amending the soil at The Farm so we can grow more trees and crops.
We are so thankful for our poultry-minded volunteers and supporters! Now, who is going to name all of these hens?
