We all scream for ICE CREAM!

Last Friday, the children at Three Angels Christian Academy got a very special treat: ice cream!

Every student (and school staff!) got an ice cream sundae, complete with chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and of course, a cherry on top! The cherries were quite a novelty, and many of the kids were unsure of them. But in the end, they were a newly-discovered hit.

You probably already know that Haiti has high temperatures and humidity year round. What you might not realize is that most people—our students included—do not have many of the luxuries that most of us consider necessities, including refrigerators. In a country where electricity is expensive and unreliable, appliances are a rarity. Even most cooking is done over coal or propane.

Because of this and because the families of our students are part of the poverty-level majority, many of these children had never had ice cream before. And even for the few who had eaten ice cream, it was a very welcome treat!

We were able to create this festive and memorable occasion because of the kindness and generosity of a small group of donors who simply wanted to give these children something new and delicious to make them smile. Mission accomplished, as you’ll see from these photos!
